What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Using my 25 years' experience in financial services working with top tier companies to form strong, collaborative relationships that contribute to the success of Fidante's boutiques.

What skill do you think is paramount in working in the financial services industry?

It's not just one skill - I believe to be successful you need a combination of collaboration, flexibility, realism and know what you're talking about.

If you could give advice to someone starting out in the industry what would it be?

Work in different parts of the industry to see which areas you are passionate about, be it funds management, superannuation, insurance, advice - experience the different business units of those areas (sale, operations, product, customer service); this way you will gain an overall capability which will open the door to general management positions.

Would you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? And why?

Extrovert as I love to interact with people and be in the action.

What was your very first job?

Chartered Accountant at Arthur Andersen specialising in superannuation, particular Industry Funds.

Do you have a secret skill/hidden talent?

Singing - I had to choose between the College of the Arts or a business degree; I chose the latter as it's very tough to make it in the opera scene and I wanted singing to be a joy, not a chore.
