BNP Paribas Asset Management Australia launches china trust

By Penny Pryor

BNP Paribas Asset Management Australia is making its BNP Paribas China Equity Trust, managed out of Hong Kong, available to Australian investors.

The trust seeks to capitalise on the growth prospects of companies in the "all-China" universe and invests in shares issued by Chinese, Hong Kong or Taiwanese companies,
or companies operating in those countries.

The greater China Equities management team, headed up by David Choa (pictured), focuses on the three key structural themes of technology and innovation; consumption upgrading; and industry consolidation.

The trust is benchmarked against the MSCI China 10/40 Index NR in AUD. Management costs are 0.99 per cent per annum of net asset value of trust plus a performance fee of 15 per cent, subject to a high water mark and performance hurdle (of benchmark plus 2 per cent).
