Zurich appoints information chief

Zurich Financial Services Australia has appointed Deepak Budhiraja as a chief information officer for Australia and New Zealand.

Budhiraja joins from Sun Life Financial where he most recently ran IT for the insurer's Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda businesses.

Previous roles at Sun Life include information chief and chief client officer for Sun Life Vietnam and director of technology at a service centre supporting the Canadian and Asian business units.

Before that, he spent more than ten years in DXC Technology's life insurance practice consulting for clients based in the United States, Singapore and India.

"Deepak brings an impressive breadth of international experience to this role, including a strong capability in formulating digital roadmaps and a passion for innovation and customers," said Zurich Australia and New Zealand operations chief Hilary Bates.

"We very much look forward to Deepak joining in the new year and welcoming him as a key member of the local Zurich team."

The recruit will relocate from Hong Kong to Sydney in the new year.

The appointment follows last week's announcement that Mathew Drennan has appointed a new chief investment officer.
