Willis Towers Watson has confirmed the departure of Tony Barber from the position of regional head of Australasia. Former managing director of Towers Watson, Andrew Boal has taken over the role with immediate effect.

Barber was appointed to the top job in February 2016 and before that was chair and CEO of Willis Australasia. He joined Willis in 1998 and has held a number of leadership positions, including senior client advocate and deputy CEO. He started his career in the insurance industry in 1986 with New Zealand Insurance, fulfilling a number of underwriting, claims and portfolio management roles.

Barber confirmed to Industry Moves that he resigned from Willis Towers Watson in order to take up a new role later in the year with insurance broker, JLT.
