Westpac mortgage strategy head joins Loan Market

Loan Market has appointed former Westpac executive, David McQueen, to its newly-created position of chief compliance and regulation officer.

In his new role, McQueen will help Loan Market prepare for new compliance measures, including the Mortgage Brokers Bill 2019 and ensure they are adhering to the best interests duty.

In a statement on the appointment, McQueen said that he sees the coming changes as a strategic opportunity for the business, not "an onerous, box-ticking exercise.

"I spoke a lot with [Loan Market executive chair] Sam White over the course of the royal commission, and he always saw these changes as an opportunity to reinvent the customer experience."
