Westpac has announced the appointment of Anita Fung as an independent director of its board, effective 1 October 2018.
Fung previously spent 19 years in executive roles at HSBC, including seven years as group general manager of HSBC Holdings and five years as the Hong Kong chief executive officer.
Commenting on Fung's appointment, Westpac chair, Lindsay Maxsted, said: "Anita is a highly respected figure in the Asia-Pacific region. She has extensive experience in wholesale and retail banking and alongside her active promotion of the development of the Asian financial landscape, provides diversity of experience and skills to the board of Australia's first bank."
Fung will also sit on Westpac's Asia advisory board and on the board's risk and compliance committee.
