Wellington Management has beefed up its hedge fund group by installing two of Australia's most experienced commodities and alternatives specialists.
The $US1 trillion investment giant has hired brothers Andrew and Mathew Kaleel who have come on board as portfolio managers.
"Together, they will form a new team focusing on commodity and macro strategies, with Andrew and Mathew becoming the first investors based in the hedge fund's Sydney office," the firm said.
The Kaleels' history in funds management started with the formation of the boutique manager H3 Global Advisors in 1994, launched by Andrew.
Mathew joined him at the firm a year later.
The high-profile duo both joined Henderson Global Investors in 2013 after the asset manager - in the process of merging with Janus Capital globally - acquired their business in Australia in 2013.
The Kaleel brothers both worked as portfolio managers of diversified alternatives at Janus Henderson.
At H3 Global Advisors, they served as co-heads of global commodities and managed futures.
