Bank of Queensland Limited (BOQ) has appointed Warwick Negus as a non-executive director, effective immediately.

Negus has more than 20 years' experience in investment banking and domestic and international funds management. Previously he was the CEO of of Colonial First State Global Asset Management, the CEO and co-founder of 452 Capital and managing director of Goldman Sachs in Australia and overseas.

He is a non-executive director of Washington H Soul Pattinson & Co, Terrace Tower Group and the Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He is also chair of UNSW Global and a member of the UNSW Council and a member of the Sydney Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.

Commenting on his appointment, BOQ chair Roger Davis said Negus would be a valuable addition to the board.

"Alongside his extensive executive career experience, Warwick also brings considerable board experience across a number of industries and sectors...his depth of experience and insights will be invaluable as we continue to implement our strategy against a backdrop of economic transition and an evolving regulatory environment."

He replaces Neil Berkett, who resigned from the board in May 2016, as the Virgin Group's nominated director on the BOQ Board.
