Pengana Capital Group has appointed a new chair following Warwick Negus' resignation to take up a role as chair of the Bank of Queensland.

In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Pengana said Negus would retire from the board to focus on his BOQ role.

Negus had sat on the Pengana board since 2017 as well as in his other board roles at firms, including BOQ, Virgin Australia and Dexus Funds Management.

Negus was appointed chair of Dexus last October.

His previous executive roles include the chief executive of First Sentier, co-founder and chief executive of 452 Capital, and managing director of Goldman Sachs in Australia, London and Singapore.

Negus was also a vice president of Bankers Trust Australia.

Current Pengana non-executive David Groves will succeed Negus as chair.

Groves, in turn, has been replaced by Brendan O'Dea had been appointed as a non-executive director.

O'Dea is currently the chief investment officer of investment manager Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company and a former head of Milton Corporation

He also spent 22 years at Citigroup as a managing director.

Groves said: "We are all appreciative of the efforts Warwick has made in developing Pengana Capital Group over the years of his involvement, and we wish him well as he further develops his career as an independent company director."

In other activity, Pengana Capital last month agreed to divest its 65 per cent direct equity stake in Chicago-based asset management firm Lizard Investors.

Further, it.launched a new, dedicated capital markets division and appointed Philip Schofield to head up the new business.
