WA Super, the Perth-based industry fund with over $2.5 billion in FUM, has confirmed that CEO John McNally has stepped down from his role and will formally retire in January 2017.

McNally has been with WA Super for over 25 years, including the last 11 years as CEO. Prior to that, he was a board member of the WA Local Government Superannuation Plan from 1991 and was active in local government for over 30 years, including periods in Kalgoorlie, Nyabing, Katanning and Busselton.

His successor is Fabian Ross, who takes over as CEO on 16 January 2017. General manager client services and deputy CEO, Paul Owen, will act as CEO until that time.

Commenting on the changes, WA Super chair, Tim Shanahan, thanked McNally for his considerable contribution and welcomed Ross to the role.
