Vision Super has welcomed former City of Yarra chief executive Vijaya Vaidyanath to its board.

Vaidyanath, the inaugural chief executive of Homes Melbourne, was nominated to the industry fund board by the Municipal Association of Victoria.

She has worked for the local government sector for more than 25 years and held leadership roles at universities not-for-profits and global banks, including a 15-year stint with the Reserve Bank of India.

The new Vision Super director currently serves on the boards of Parks Victoria, Zoos Victoria, and Procurement Australia.

"VJ has deep experience in our traditional local government sector, and having lived all around the world will bring a unique perspective to board deliberations," said Vision Super chair Lisa Darmanin.

Vaidyanath said she is looking forward to getting back to more in-person interactions after two years of lockdowns and Covid restrictions in Victoria.

"Vision Super is there to make a difference to retirement outcomes for the dedicated, amazing people who work in local government and beyond - I'm excited to help guide the fund during my term on the board."

She replaces Geoff Lake, who sat on the board for 12 years.
