High-profile bond specialist Vimal Gor has signed up with Ashok Jacob's Ellerston Capital after splitting from crypto advisory firm Trovio last year.

The one-time Pendal operative has been appointed head of fixed-income and multi-asset.

His colleague Tom Ciszewski also moved across from Trovio.

Gor, who was Pendal's head of bond, income and defensive strategies for over 11 years, quit his role in July 2022 to head up Trovio's digital asset funds.

At the time, the fixed interest manager held that alternative duration was an answer to the problem of the declining efficacy of using global government bonds within multi-asset portfolios.

However, challenging market conditions made raising institutional assets into a start-up difficult.

Before joining Pendal in 2009, Gor held the position of head of global aggregate portfolios at Aviva Investors, as well as portfolio manager roles with Scottish Mutual and Murray Johnstone.
