Former Pendal bond specialist Vimal Gor is close to landing another investment partner following his recent split from Trovia Group.

Gor and his alternative duration team of four left the crypto advisory firm last December and have been in active discussions with potential partners ever since.

Gor joined Trovio as investment chief in July 2022, bringing across the other members of the team who ran Pendal's alternative duration strategies business.

Trovia is a technology and asset management company focused on deriving alpha from emerging ecosystems and new asset classes.

Gor said despite the compelling vision of establishing a hybrid technology and asset management firm, the challenging market environment of the past 18 months made raising institutional assets into a start-up difficult.

"Given this challenging landscape, Trovio and I reached an amicable agreement that my team would leave and seek a new partner," he said.

"I remain a shareholder in Trovio and am still close to the team, and wish them all success in the future.

Having dedicated over three decades to steering portfolios and leading teams, high-profile fixed income and multi-asset specialist said he is enjoying his first real break.

Gor added that his tenure at Trovio provided an opportunity to expand into the dynamic realms of digital assets, carbon emissions, and the tokenisation of real-world assets.

"These experiences have given me significant insights into the evolving landscape of financial markets."

Before joining Pendal in 2009, Gor held the position of head of global aggregate portfolios at Aviva Investors, as well as portfolio manager roles with Scottish Mutual and Murray Johnstone.
