Vanguard Australia MD to head up Europe

John James, head of Vanguard Australia, has been appointed as managing director of Vanguard Europe, a role he will transition to by mid-year.

James joined Vanguard at its US headquarters in 2008, as head of broker-dealer sales and distribution, before moving to the International division. In 2010, he took up the role of Australia head.

He replaces Europe head Thomas Rampulla, who will join Vanguard's senior executive team in the US. James, in turn, will be replaced by Colin Kelton, a principal in Vanguard's US retail marketing and communications group, who joined the firm in 1990.
