UBS has confirmed to Industry Moves the departure of Chris Williams, co-head of equities for Australia and New Zealand, after 15 years with the firm.

"Chris has made a decision to spend time with his family after more than 20 years in the industry, before he embarks on his next adventure," UBS said.

Williams joined UBS in July 2004 as a diversified financials research analyst, having spent over seven years at the Australian Stock Exchange in various senior roles. In 2011, he was promoted to managing director and in 2012, became head of research for the Australian and New Zealand business. He was promoted to co-head of equities alongside Steve Boxhall in May 2014.

Commenting on their achievements in the role, UBS said: "When Steve and Chris took over the leadership of the Equities business in 2014, no one thought that the Equities business' market position could be improved but Chris and Steve laid out a plan to do just that, and with the dedication of their team and absolute focus on serving our clients, they have significantly grown the market position and profitability of the business in an often challenging environment."

Boxall will take over the responsibility as head of equities for Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately.
