Commonwealth Bank has confirmed the appointment of Matt Pancino to the role of executive general manager, retail and wealth in enterprise services. In the new role, effective September 2016, Pancino will be responsible for CBA's retail banking and wealth management technology and systems.

Pancino is currently the chief information officer (CIO) of Suncorp Group - a role he was re-appointed to after a re-shuffle of Suncorp's executive board in February 2016. He was previously promoted to CIO from head of business technology applications in 2013, and in 2014 he was appointed CEO of Suncorp Business Services after the departure of Jeff Smith.

In a statement to the ASX, Suncorp Group CEO & MD Michael Cameron said that an internal and external search for a new CIO is underway and that Clancy Herbert, Suncorp's chief transformation officer, will act as caretaker until a permanent replacement has been appointed.
