HESTA has welcomed investment and governance specialist Sue Dahn to its board as director and investment committee chair.

Just two weeks ago, Dahn announced that she will finish her term with Spirit Super in June after nearly 12 years as a director.

She replaces high-profile HESTA investment committee chair Mark Burgess who announced in February that he would leave the industry fund board and join Australian Retirement Trust.

Dahn, an investment adviser partner and executive director at Pitcher Partners, is currently chair of the investment committee for Breakthrough Victoria, and the Australian Communities Foundation.

At Pitcher Partners, she founded the Investment Advisory practice, advising on over $6.5 billion in funds.

Before joining Pitcher Partners, Dahn worked as an accountant with KPMG in audit and Arthur Anderson in tax.

She later held senior financial positions in the Victorian Government Departments of Premier and Cabinet and Treasury and Finance.

She is a former chair of the investment committee at MTAA Super Fund, AGEST Super and ESS Super.

HESTA Chair Nicola Roxon welcomed Dahn to the HESTA Board and leadership of the investment committee, noting that she brought a wealth of experience to the board as an investment adviser.

"HESTA has a record of delivering outstanding investment performance for members and Sue's appointment will support the delivery of investment excellence with impact for members while overseeing the management of a growing and significant pool of assets."

Dahn explained that investment committees and good governance have long been two passions.

"I am looking forward to joining the HESTA Board later this year and sharing my experience and expertise in investment across all asset classes, both listed and non-listed and in contributing to HESTA's great reputation for responsible investing."
