Challenger Limited has announced that Steven Gregg will retire from the board at the Annual General Meeting on 26 October 2023

The investment banking veteran became a director in 2012.

During his time at the annuity's provider, he has served on several committees, including as chair of the group audit committee and as a member of the group remuneration, group risk and nomination committees.

Gregg has extensive Australian and international executive experience,

His most recent senior executive roles included partner and senior adviser at McKinsey & Company and global head of investment banking at ABN Amro.

The renowned deal-maker also worked at Chase Manhattan, Lehman Brothers and AMP Morgan Grenfell.

He is a former chairman of Ampol Limited (formerly Caltex Australia), The Lottery Corporation, Goodman Fielder, Austock Group and Tabcorp Holdings.

Challenger chair Duncan West thanked Gregg for over a decade of exemplary service.

"Steven has made a significant strategic contribution to the development of Challenger during his tenure, drawing on his commercial acumen gained both in Australia and overseas," he said.

"His experience and dedication have been invaluable to Challenger, and we wish him all the best for the future."

Gregg said it was a privilege to serve on the Challenger board, adding that the firm plays an important part in providing retirees with financial confidence.

An additional non-executive director will be appointed over the coming months.
