Schroders has appointed former Nikko Asset Management managing director Sam Hallinan as its new Australian CEO.
Hallinan will report to Chris Durack, who will continue to have oversight of the Australian business in addition to his co-CEO duties for the larger APAC region.
In a statement, Schroders' global head of distribution Lieven Debruyne said that Hallinan's appointment will help the business strengthen existing capabilities in Australian equities, multi-asset, fixed income, and global equities. "With the appointment of Sam, we continue to demonstrate our investment in the quality of our management team," he said. "At the same time, through Chris' leadership we are continuing to drive our priorities in the region supporting the development of our investment capabilities for our clients."
Hallinan has been managing director at Nikko since 2016. Before that, he held a similar role with Antares Asset Management and has held senior positions with MLC and National Asset Management.
Durack said he's thrilled to welcome Hallinan to the organisation, saying that it "highlights our focus and commitment to the ongoing investment in the Australian business. "Sam's experience and proven leadership will add further depth to our management capability as we remain focused on delivering great investment outcomes for our Australian clients."
