Russell appoints Michael Gordon to trustee board

Russell Investments has announced the appointment of Michael Gordon as an independent director on the board of Total Risk Management (TRM), a wholly owned subsidiary that acts as trustee of the Russell Master Trusts.

Gordon was previously the group executive of Perpetual Investments and has held chief investment officer roles with Fidelity International, BNP Paribas and Schroders, both in Australia and internationally. He is currently the chair of the TRM investment committee.

He is joined on the board of TRM by fellow new appointee and independent director, Alexis Dodwell.

In a statement, Russell Investments said: "With these appointments, TRM continues its tradition of relying on industry expert directors and is now fully independent."

Commenting on Gordon and Dodwell's appointments, Russell Investments CEO Asia Pacific Peter Gunning said: "These two industry veterans help assure continued, strong, independent oversight for our members with experience in superannuation, investments, risk management and governance. Alexis brings considerable strength in both governance and risk management, and Michael has exemplary experience as a chief investment officer."

TRM currently acts as trustee for approximately AUD$10 billion in assets. The two new appointees joined David Solomon (who serves as chair), Marian Carr and Jim O'Connor.
