Industry superannuation fund Rest has appointed Chris Drew as its head of Australian Equities.

Drew was most recently an investment manager for public markets with Australian Catholic Superannuation, a role he's held since 2015.

The appointment is the latest in the growing internal investments team that Rest has been building since appointing Andrew Lill as chief investment officer in mid-2020. "During the past six months, we've expanded the internal expertise within Rest investment's team," said Lill. "We built on the existing expertise in the team and have assembled a group of experienced leaders who are focused on constructing member-focused, multi-asset portfolios."

Before joining Australian Catholic Superannuation, Drew spent several years with Sunsuper as an investment manager and portfolio analyst, primarily focusing on Australian shares. He also spent time with FuturePlus Financial Services, the subsidiary of the Energy Industries Superannuation Scheme, as an investment analyst.

"Chris has more than a decade's experience in managing equities portfolios on behalf of members," said Lill. "Australian equities is one of our largest asset classes and is a key driver in delivering strong and competitive returns for members. Chris's experience and expertise will be valuable as we position for further growth."

Australian Catholic Superannuation is currently going through its due diligence ahead of a merger with NGS Super. It is expected to be completed next year.
