The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Stephen Smith as its new technology head.
Smith is a seasoned leader in the technology industry with more than 25 years of strategic and operational IT experience.
Before joining the central bank in 2019 as deputy head of infrastructure and operations, he held senior technology roles with TAFE NSW, Services NSW, Westpac, and National Australia Bank.
''I'm honoured to step into my new role as CIO at this incredibly exciting time in the Bank's history," said Smith.
"I am proud of the role the RBA has played in supporting the Australian economy throughout the pandemic.
"As we move forward into a post-pandemic world, I'm looking forward to working with the Bank's strong leadership team to lead the technology function into the next stage of its journey."
The new technology head will provide strategic technical leadership while ensuring the central bank's systems remain secure, highly resilient, and efficient.
