RAM hires head of distribution

Real Asset Management has appointed industry veteran Peter Folkes as its new head of distribution.

The wealth and asset manager has recruited Peter Folkes to oversee distribution strategies across all channels and markets, as well as manage key distribution partnerships.

Folkes joins from Orca Funds Management where he had a similar role.

Earlier, he spent more than seven years at BT Investment Solutions where he served as head of business management and sales.

Folkes has also held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Advance Asset Management and PwC.

Commenting on the appointment, RAM Australia chief executive Scott Kelly said Folkes'

extensive knowledge and track record in distribution will be invaluable to RAM as the fund continues to grow its business and expand its client base.

"I am very much looking forward to Peter being a key member of our leadership team."

Folkes added: "I am excited to be joining RAM at this time and working with the team to continue its growth and success."

Assets under management for the real estate, credit and private equity specialist have jumped 35 per cent over the year to $4 billion.

RAM has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The group manages a diverse portfolio of properties across Australia, including 43 properties through the ASX-listed RAM Essential Services Property Fund and an unlisted portfolio that includes the RAM Diversified Property Fund and several separately managed accounts.

RAM is launching new programmes this year to capture new market opportunities.
