The $101 billion Queensland Investment Corporation has welcomed Bettina Lung as the director of its new multi-sector private debt business.

Earlier this year, QIC launched a multi-sector private credit offering and promoted Phil Miall to the newly created position of head of multi-sector private debt. The launch of the offering follows QIC's foray into private debt in 2021.

Lung, who reports to Miall, joins from Aware Super's credit income team.

As head of direct lending,  she was responsible for the origination and execution of corporate and leveraged finance transactions in Australia and New Zealand.

Lung has also held roles in Investec Bank and HSBC Global Banking.

QIC said Lung has a strong track record in origination, structuring, and execution and has established networks with funds, corporates, advisors, consultants, lawyers, and other investors.·

At the time of the multi-sector private credit launch in February, the Queensland government investor said the focus on direct origination was a strong differentiator relative to other market offerings, particularly as the team could source opportunities via QIC's real asset networks.

"These opportunities would not be accessible to firms without QIC's breadth of investment capabilities."
