QIC appoints Director, Global Fixed Income & Absolute Return

QIC has announced the appointment of Paul Nicholson to the position of director, global fixed income and absolute return.

Nicholson will be based in the firm's London office, reporting to Susan Buckley, QIC managing director, global liquid strategies.

In this role, Nicholson will be responsible for diversifying and expanding QIC's Global Liquid Strategies capacity across international markets, focusing on alpha generation across the UK, Europe and the US.

He joins QIC from Vontobel Asset Management, Zurich, where he was head of fixed income absolute return. As lead portfolio manager of the Vontobel Absolute Return Bond fund strategy, he grew assets under management from A$350 million to more than A$1.1 billion in three years.

Commenting on his appointment, Susan Buckley said that Nicholson's skills will be of "immense value" to QIC.

"Paul's expertise in absolute return fixed income is right for these times and his skills will be important in the development of innovative strategies that can help our clients achieve their return objectives."

He will commence in his role in London in the coming months.
