Boutique fund manager Prime Value Asset Management has appointed Julia Desimone as director of distribution, hiring from Investors Mutual.

There, Desimone was state manager for Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

She previously held senior distribution roles with Dimensional Fund Advisors, Centuria Capital Limited, and Ausbil.

Prime Value chief executive Yak Yong Quek welcomed Desimone to the role.

"Julia has a strong track record of serving the intermediaries market and we believe she will be a good fit with our diverse product offering and our boutique culture of stewardship and building wealth together," he said.

For her part, Desimone said Prime Value is rare, an Australian-owned boutique with a history of playing to its strengths across different investments.

She further said the recent Zenith ratings upgrade for the small-cap Prime Value Emerging Opportunities Fund to Highly Recommended indicates the quality on offer at the investment house.

"Prime Value has shown it can create best-of-breed investments and add value to investor portfolios. The upgrade is a credit to the small-cap team and their long-term commitment to a process that has delivered across market cycles."

"The fund was the only small-cap fund upgraded to Highly Recommended and is currently one of the very few small-cap funds to achieve this rating."

The new distribution director noted the firm is also attracting interest in alternative assets and property investment strategies.

"Prime Value has built several compelling alternative asset offerings, including a very attractive Dairy Trust with some of the best dairy farmland in Australia.

"The firm also has a long history of successful property investment funds. I'm delighted to be representing these funds and look forward to working with the Prime Value team."

The boutique is part of an investment group including Shakespeare Property Group, managing more than $3 billion across listed equities, direct property, alternative assets and income securities.

Prime Value funds are available via platforms including Netwealth, uXchange, Mason Stevens, Hub24 and BT Panorama, Praemium and AMP North.
