Perpetual Limited has announced the appointment of Tony D'Aloisio as chair-elect, effective 13 December 2016.

He takes on this transitional role following news of current chair, Peter Scott's, pending retirement. D'Aloisio will officially take over as Perpetual's new chair on 31 May 2017.

D'Aloisio is currently the chair of IRESS, a role he has held since August 2014. Prior to that he was the managing director and CEO of the Australian Stock Exchange and was chair of ASIC from 2007 to 2011. He has over 35 years' experience in senior executive, government, corporate and legal roles.

Commenting on D'Aloisio's appointment, Scott said: "I am confident Tony will be a real asset for Perpetual, with his extensive experience in financial services and having been a CEO of a listed company. The company and its shareholders and clients will benefit from his leadership and experience across investment markets, regulatory affairs and technology, which make him an ideal fit for Perpetual."

D'Aloisio added that it was an honour to join the Perpetual board as chair-elect and he was looking forward to working with the board and management team.
