Paul Hennessy joins Mercer

Mercer has welcomed investment industry heavyweight Paul Hennessy to the newly created role of Australian sales leader.

In the new role, Hennessy will drive Mercer's sales capabilities to deliver a more holistic offering to clients and support the firm's growth agenda.

He joins Mercer from Capital Group, where he was the managing director for Australia and New Zealand for ten years.

Before that, he was most recently the head of distribution at Macquarie Bank, global head of client services at CIBC World Markets, and vice president at Greenwich Associates. Hennessy said looking forward to working with Mercer's broad range of clients on the many and varied opportunities that the firm could deliver.

"The world continues to change around us, and clients are increasingly looking for ways to reposition themselves for growth. I'm impressed by Mercer's capabilities, both locally and globally, and look forward to bringing the best of what the firm has to offer to help Mercer's clients thrive," he said.

Helen Murdoch, Mercer's sales and commercial acceleration leader in the Pacific, said the asset consultant would benefit from the recruit's ability to balance strong commercial acumen with a client-centric approach.

"Our clients' needs are becoming more and more complex. Paul's leadership, coupled with his innovative approach to delivering strong client outcomes, will enable us to achieve our growth aspirations as a business," she said.

Separately, last week, Mercer hired David Wilson to support the asset consultant's growing consulting and investment solutions business.
