John O'Connell, Perpetual's new business manager for senior corporate clients, has left the organisation.

O'Connell went through three mergers during his time with the organisation. He began with Permanent Trustees in 1993 where he specialised in corporate governance, investment management, and trustee oversight. Permanent was taken over by Trust Company in 2002. In 2013, he moved into a new business management role with Perpetual when the organisation took over Trust.

In his most recent role, O'Connell predominantly dealt with offshore investors looking to establish a local managed investment trust to purchase property or infrastructure. He handled fee and funding arrangements and helped settle initial assets.

He's leaving to become the head of fund services for AMAL Trustees, part of AMAL Asset Management, a group that provides loan servicing and corporate trusts to clients in Australia and New Zealand.

In comments on his LinkedIn, O'Connell wrote, "I look forward to this exciting opportunity and hope the friendships and contacts made over the years continue on."
