Northern Trust names local digital assets exec

Northern Trust has named a new head of digital assets innovation for Asia Pacific.

In the new role, Alvin Chia will align innovations with Northern Trust's digital asset strategy to clients across the region.

Chia will work closely with industry bodies, fintech, regulators and government entities to help influence market change.

He joins from Bain and Company, where he worked as an innovation manager.

Before that, he was vice president of innovation at DBS Bank.

"We continue to see the pace of innovation continuing across the funds' administration and custody sector, with the APAC region experiencing a transformational period of change in light of new technologies."

A few months ago, Northern Trust announced the formation of its digital assets and financial markets group, which unifies its digital and traditional market functions across its asset servicing business.
