Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed a Morgan Stanley executive to run its global fixed income business.

In the new role as chief investment officer for fixed income, Christian Roth will oversee the investment strategy, process and approach for the firm's global fixed income business.

Roth will report to Northern Trust AM global chief investment officer Angelo Manioudakis.

He brings more than three decades of financial industry experience to the role of investment chief for global fixed income.

At Morgan Stanley Investment Management, he held a variety of global fixed income leadership roles over 24 years.

Most recently, he worked as chairman for broad markets fixed income. He has also served as head of multi-sector fixed income, head of global fixed income and credit and co-head of the global and European fixed income team

Earlier in his career, Roth also held roles in fixed income at Miller, Anderson & Sherrerd and merchant banking at Dean Witter Capital Corporation.
