Date: January 2020
Position: Head of Retail Development and Asset Creation

A new leadership team responsible for retail real estate has been announced by AMP Capital after an organisational restructure that began in August.

Mark Kirkland is the new head of retail development and asset creation, expanding on the responsibilities he previously held as managing director of AMP shopping centres. The role will look after investment, property, and development management for the shopping centre portfolio.

The new role will include a new focus on coordinating AMP Capital Real Estate's mixed-use asset creation capability as well as origination of client-side development opportunities.

Kirkland has been with AMP Capital for seven years. He's joined by Marco Ettorre who has accepted a role as head of retail and investments with AMP Capital, leaving Lendlease.

AMP Capital's managing director of retail, real estate Brett Williams says he's pleased with the new leadership team and restructure. "As we enter a new phase of the property cycle, we're able to offer clients access to new, compelling development opportunities. Given Mark's passion and well-regarded experience in development, he's the perfect candidate to take on this opportunity to lead the next iteration and both deliver our pipeline and grow our development offer for clients."

The new roles are effective from January 2020.
