New investment strategy at Equip sees the departure of Portfolio Manager

Equip has confirmed to Industry Moves that, following changes to its investment management strategy, portfolio manager Andrew Fong has departed the $14 billion fund, effective April 2018.

During his time at Equip, Fong was responsible for managing Australian equities portfolios and property assets, including unlisted and global real estate investment trusts. Prior to joining Equip, he held roles with Invesco Australia and County Investment Management.

Equip has also confirmed the departure of portfolio manager, James Birrell.

Commenting on the changes, a spokesperson for Equip told Industry Moves: "As part of the new investment strategy, the fund will no longer manage their assets internally for the foreseeable future."

Previously, a third of Equip's funds were managed in-house.
