MSC Trustees has hired a new manager to help lead the firm's relationship management team across the country as it ramps up its growth expectations.

Appointed general manager of business development,Andrew Pointer has 30 years of experience in global business development, law, funds management and administration, and trusteeship.

The appointment is in response to significant growth in MSC Trustees' business, including a number of higher-profile institutional clients selecting the boutique corporate trust in the last 12 months.

These include abrdn, SG Hiscock, Alceon and Sanlam.

Pointer has served on or advised the executive and board at Deloitte, global corporate administrators TMF Group, Vistra, Huntley Group and the Real Estate Institute of Victoria on growth strategy, business development and change management.

Pointer joins from his own law firm and consultancy, where he spent his time on non-legal corporate advisory, business development and capital raisings.

He is a nominee director of several global businesses, including Sophia Genetics, Remote, Flo Energy, Evolus, Anywhere365 and Genzada Pharmaceuticals.

"This is our first national leader appointment for Sydney and recognises its increasing importance in the MSC growth story," said MSC Trustees managing director Matthew Fletcher," who added that the bulk of the team is Melbourne based.

"MSC's full-service corporate trust model across retail and wholesale funds and corporate debt requires an executive and senior management team with diverse backgrounds, reflecting understanding across diverse corporate structures, mandates and assets.

"Andrew fits that approach perfectly, bringing direct experience in law, corporate trusteeship and fund administration. He also brings senior corporate leadership, which will assist at the executive level in managing our relationship management team.

The appointment comes after MSC  hired new senior staff in Singapore - a chief executive who joins from GIC and an operations manager.

The firm - which provides trustee and fund administration services to more than 200 funds - expanded into Singapore a couple of years back, seeing the city-state as the next logical step.
