The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has appointed Natalie Cameron as lead ombudsman for investments and advice.

AFCA chief David Locke announced the appointment of Cameron and Heather Gray as the lead ombudsman for superannuation. "Together, Natalie and Heather bring considerable experience and exceptional knowledge in insurance, superannuation, and investments to AFCA."

Cameron said she was excited by the opportunity. "Their work on ensuring fairness in financial services is something I want to be part of.

"Being a decision-maker in this area is exciting, and I look forward to meeting the talented Ombudsmen and AFCA team who will assist me in this important responsibility."

Cameron comes from MLC Life Insurance where she was the chief operations officer. "For now, I want to thank my team at MLC Life Insurance, and the partners and contacts I have had the pleasure of working with over these last few years. I hope everyone is keeping safe and well at home, and that home-schooling and cabin fever are not getting you down!"

Cameron was the CEO of AIA in New Zealand from 2015-2017, and several roles with the organisation in Australia, including COO, general counsel, and chief group insurance officer.

A lawyer by training and trade, Cameron held lawyer roles with Clayton Utz, ASIC, and with AIA Australia.
