MLC AM appoints head of retail investment sales

MLC Asset Management has promoted Brendan Dempsey to head of retail investment sales.

In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the distribution of the firm's investments into the retail and adviser market.

According to Cameron Spittle, Insignia Financial general manager advisory solutions, Dempsey will be accountable for distributing the full range MLC Diversified fund solutions and MLC Managed Account offerings, as well as the firm's broad range of direct and alternative funds.

These include MLC Global Private Equity Fund, Fairview, Antares Equities, Intermede, Altrinsic and Antares Fixed Income.

And Dempsey will cover all aspects of adviser distribution including strategic relationships and investment central - the  adviser client engagement hub.

"I'm pleased to have Brendan as a key member of the advisory solutions leadership team," Spittle said.

For most of his five years at MLC, Dempsey was head of distribution development and responsible for strategy across NAB Wealth into the retail advice market.

In 2021, NAB sold its wealth management business to MLC Wealth, to IOOF, now part of the Insignia Financial Group.

"Looking forward to reconnecting with many in the industry - while it's been fun in the background these past few years, nothing quite like sales to get the excitement levels going!"

Previous roles included senior manager at. NAB Asset Management a business development manager at MLC.

He earlier spent four years at Plum Financial Services and a further four at Mercer as a superannuation consultant.
