Midwinter brings in new distribution head

Midwinter's new distribution head comes just months after the company was acquired by Bravura for $50 million.

The company is making a move to expand its fintech offering, a cloud-based financial adviser support platform.

Andrew Whelan was most recently the director of adviser services at Milliman.

Whelan spoke with Industry Moves when he was appointed to his last role. Of automation in the industry, he said, "Automation of certain processes within an advice practice is inevitable and will be powerful in the hands of advice professionals. The key will be to ensure that the outcomes for clients are not diluted in favour of efficiency.

"Quality automation should provide great client outcomes which are demonstrable, repeatable and auditable, which can only be a good thing."

Before joining Midwinter, Whelan was the head of adviser services for Morningstar and held a GM/distribution role with CCUBE.
