Date: November 2016
Position: Director

The Investment Management Consultants Association - Australia (IMCA) has announced that Hendrie Koster has been appointed to its board, effective 28 November 2016.

Koster is principal of Mercer Investments and, as the firm's director of strategic research for the Pacific region, advises clients on a range of issues including investment strategy, portfolio construction and manager selection. He is based in Sydney after transferring from Mercer's London office in February 2010.

Prior to joining Mercer, Koster gained experience working as an investment consultant in Johannesburg and London for Alexander Forbes, Sanlam, and Lane Clark & Peacock.

Commenting on Koster's appointment - as well as the appointments of fellow new board directors, Annika Bradley, Kim Bowater, Paul Newfield and Keri Pratt - Brett Elvish, chair of IMCA Australia, said: "These appointments are a nod to the past and a nod to the future. We have been careful to ensure we have the right mix of our traditional constituency as well as sufficient skills and experience of where we are headed and what we need to get there."

He added: "We also have been mindful of diversity with the three female appointments to improve the Board's gender diversity and we also are pleased to make an appointment that is based outside of Sydney and Melbourne."

Retiring from the board are Robert Hogg, Graeme Miller, Paul O'Connor, Ian Patrick and Janice Sengupta.
