Mercer has appointed fixed income specialist Sue Wang as interim head of portfolio management.

She replaces Ronan McCabe as he returns to Ireland after a three-year stint with the asset manager.

Wang, who has worked at Mercer for 15 years, was most recently responsible for the management of Mercer's fixed income funds.

Commenting on the new role promotion, she said it was a great opportunity to work from a whole of portfolio perspective.

"I've been at Mercer for over a decade, and after leading the Pacific manager research function and being responsible for the fixed income funds, I'm ready for a new challenge," she said.

In my new role, I'll be focused on further integrating Mercer's leading strategic and manager research with best-in-class multi-manager investment management.

"I believe having a fixed income background is particularly helpful, given the whole of portfolio perspective requires a well-thought-out macro perspective which my fixed income background provides."

Before joining Mercer back in 2007, Wang spent four years at Tyndall Asset Management as a fixed income portfolio manager.

Relocating from Dublin to Sydney in 2019, McCabe joined the asset manager from the Irish Strategic Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund.
