AMP has hired industry executive Melinda Howes to helm the superannuation, master trust and investment businesses.

Howes, who previously worked at AMP, will take on the title of group executive superannuation and Investments at AMP.

She will also become a member of the group executive committee.

In the new role, Howes is tasked with driving the strategy for AMP's Super business and overseeing investment performance and management.

She is currently a partner in KPMG's superannuation and actuarial practices,

Before that, she spent two decades at BT Financial Group' most recently as general manager of superannuation.

During her time at BT, Howes delivered a three-year business simplification program. Additionally, she developed the business's capability in digital services, building digital journeys and launching a  supercheck tool.

Earlier, at AMP, she was a director of product strategy and services and director of business operations and optimisation.

Howes previously ran the Actuaries Institute and was the director of policy and industry practice for the Association of Superannuation Funds Australia.

Her appointment follows an extensive internal and external search, and the appointments in July of Edwina Maloney to group executive, platforms and Matt Lawler to group executive, advice.
