Mason Stevens has appointed an investment chief and a finance director.

Jacqueline Fernley joins from JB Were where she was head of equities for three years.

She departed National Australia Bank's advice and stockbroking firm after it was folded into the business bank along with the lender's private bank, nabtrade as well as its margin lending business.

Previously, Fernley was Australian equity portfolio manager at CFS, head of research at Wilson HTM, and portfolio manager and head of research at Magellan.

Earlier on, she spent five years as a portfolio manager at Suncorp Investment Management and six years as a small-cap analyst at Credit Suisse.

The appointment follows another key hire for the firm. Wayne Twomey has come on board as chief financial officer.

Twomey has held a range of senior finance roles over his career including CFO at Mastercard for Australia and New Zealand, CFO of PWC Australia, and American Express.

Commenting on the new hires, Mason Stevens chief executive Tim Yule said Fernley is an experienced portfolio manager with a proven track record of delivering top-quartile returns.

"Wayne brings experience, knowledge, and discipline, that will be critical to this important phase of development and growth for the business.

Yule said 2022 is shaping up to be a big year for Mason Stevens, having been recognised by Investment Trends as the most improved investment platform for the third year running, reinforcing their innovative approach and accelerating growth plans.
