After more than 11 years at the helm of SuperFriend, Margo Lydon is stepping down as chief executive.

However, she plans to remain in the superannuation and life insurance sector.

In announcing her departure, the not-for-profit organisation said Lydon had dedicated her tenure to creating positive change in mental health and suicide prevention in Australia.

Furthering her work in delivering practical and impactful solutions, actionable insights, and advocating for positive change in workplace mental health, she will remain with SuperFriend as an advisor until mid-August.

"It is terrific to see SuperFriend at the forefront of workplace mental health, working collaboratively with our partner super funds, life insurers, business and industry, and of course, the mental health sector, to deliver positive outcomes for Australian workers and workplaces," Lydon said.

"I will be remaining in the industry dedicated to progressing Australia's mental health and suicide prevention work, and keen to continue my career focus on strategic and systems change that delivers positive impact."

SuperFriend chair Elizabeth Proust acknowledged Lydon's contribution to SuperFriend and the superannuation and life insurance industry.

"Margo's work, leadership, and influence have resulted in significant positive changes at organisational, industry, state, and national levels," she added.

"Under Lydon's leadership, SuperFriend has created innovative solutions, influenced national policy agendas, and led the development of Australia's largest workplace survey."

Dina Goebel, SuperFriend's general manager of strategy and innovation, is the acting chief executive until a new chief executive is appointed.
