Maple-Brown Abbott hires from Schroders

Boutique investment manager Maple-Brown Abbott has appointed a new business development manager, hiring from Schroders.

Based in Sydney, Sophie Metcalfe will report to the firm's head of wholesale, Vijay Srinivasan.

As a business development manager,  she will work with the broader distribution team to cultivate relationships with advisers and increase awareness of Maple-Brown Abbott's expertise in the various asset classes.

Before working as an account manager at Schroders, Metcalfe was a partnerships manager with Livewire Markets, the social media platform for investors.

Previously, she spent six years at Fidelity International in the UK and Sydney in account management and marketing roles.

She also did a three-year stint at Perpetual Investments as a marketing coordinator.

Srinivasan said Metcalfe brings over a decade of experience in marketing and distribution.

"Sophie has strong technical knowledge and a good understanding of the needs of financial advisers. These strong links and her reputation for delivering outstanding service to the financial advice community make her an excellent choice for the role," he said.

Maple Brown Abbott's head of wholesale also noted Metcalfe's previous work with the Schroders investment hub - which tackles the basics of investing, sustainable investing and behavioural finance.

"This demonstrates her ability to communicate and work with financial advisers by delivering valuable insights."
