UBS has confirmed that equities specialist Luke Donald is returning to the firm from Macquarie Group.

The firm called Donald "a seasoned facilitation and trading operative" and said he will be taking on the role of head of APAC facilitation.

UBS said the appointment continues the growing trend of regional roles being managed out of Australia.

Donald will report to Ralph Gyoery UBS' head of risk for Australia and New Zealand, Clinton Wong, and Chris Scott, who run equities. There are also regional reporting lines.

"Luke has deep knowledge of trading across the region and is highly rated by the Australian domestic client base for facilitation services," UBS said.

Donald previously worked at UBS from 2000 to 2008 before joining Morgan Stanley and later Macquarie Group.
