Macquarie announces new Head of CGM as part of internal merger

Macquarie Group (Macquarie) has announced the appointment of Andrew Downe to the newly-created role of head of commodities and global markets group (CGM).

His appointment follows news of an internal merger between two of the group's three capital markets facing businesses: Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) and the Commodities and Financial Markets Group (CFM).

Commenting on the changes, Macquarie Group MD and CEO, Nicholas Moore, said industry changes, client commitment and the opportunity to provide clients with an integrated, end to end service across global markets, prompted the merger.

"The integration brings together our highly regarded execution, research, derivatives, trading, fixed income, foreign exchange and commodities businesses."
