Macquarie infrastructure manager joins Wollemi

Macquarie Infrastructure and real assets executive Antony Kirwan has left the group to join Tim Bishop's new climate investment firm, Wollemi Capital.

Kirwan joins Wollemi to lead the firm's fundraising strategy following its recent $220 million capital raising.

Aside from Bishop, the former Macquarie Capital chief, Kirwan rejoins Catherine Webb, Macquarie Capital's ex-finance and operating chief.

Kirwan brings almost 20 years of banking, equity markets and funds management experience in New York, London and Sydney.

He was previously a managing director at Macquarie Asset Management, responsible for unlisted infrastructure fundraising in Australia and New Zealand.

Most recently, Kirwan launched and managed the Macquarie Private Infrastructure Fund, an unlisted infrastructure fund catering to Australian wholesale investors.

Before his 11 years at Macquarie, he worked with UBS and Natixis.

"His deep knowledge of the private investment landscape comes at a key moment in Wollemi's growth story, as we continue to build out our global team, deploy capital into our pipeline of climate investment opportunities and develop a funds management business," Wollemi said.

"I'm thrilled to be leaning into the climate investment opportunity. It is particularly exciting to be doing this within an organisation that I believe has the potential to be a global leader, and bringing emergent climate emerging climate solutions to bankability," Kirwan added.

In a LinkedIn post Kirwan mused further: "You need three things each day to be effective ... something to look up to, something to look forward to, and something to chase.

In Wollemi, he found all three.

"I look up to the individuals in the climate investment ecosystem (my former and current colleagues included) who have been fighting the good fight for years.

"I look forward to aiding the growth of a firm that will play a critical role in ensuring we succeed in reaching Net Zero.

"I am chasing  large amounts of capital to aid the journey to Net Zero and capitalise on a generational investment opportunity."
