Local Government Super (LGS) has announced the departure of its first female chair, Katherine O'Regan, who is no longer acting as a director on behalf of Local Government NSW.

O'Regan joined the LGS board in April 2015 and was appointed as chair of the $10b fund in July 2017, in what the fund described as a "landmark appointment [that] reinforces LGS's commitment to diversity and female representation in leadership roles, including on boards."

Previously she served as deputy mayor for Woollahra Municipal Council, as an adviser and chief of staff to Australian Federal and State Government Ministers, and as an executive in numerous Australian top-50 listed corporations including: Macquarie Bank, National Australia Bank and MLC.

At LGS she has been replaced by Bruce Miller, who was previously the chair of LGS from 2013-2015, effective 11 September 2017.
