Local Government Super (LGS) has announced the departure of chief executive officer, Peter Lambert, after 10 years in the role.

Lambert has worked within the super fund industry for over 30 years, with experience in employer-sponsored super at life offices and consultancy firms, as well as roles at Transfield and Goodman Fielder.

Commenting on his departure, LGS chair, Craig Peate, said: "Peter led LGS to achieve significant growth and wide recognition of the Fund's leadership in responsible and sustainable investment. On behalf of the Board I wish Peter all the best for his future endeavours."

Donna Heffernan, chief governance officer and company secretary, will serve as acting CEO of the $10b fund until a permanent replacement is found.

Peate added: "With a stable and experienced team of senior executives in place the Fund will continue to focus on delivering the best retirement outcomes for our members. The Board will now conduct a thorough search for the new CEO. The Board will work with the new CEO to lead the next stage of the Fund's evolution to benefit members."
