Local Government Super (LGS) has announced the appointment of Greg McLean as a director of its board, replacing Jim Montague.

McLean, who was appointed to the $11 billion fund by the United Services Union, has expertise in superannuation, financial management, social and competition policy, and industrial relations.

Currently a Councillor of the Sutherland Shire Council, McLean has been a director of several corporate and not-for-profit organisations throughout his career. Until recently, he also served as a director on the CareSuper board.

LGS chair, Bruce Miller, said of his appointment: "We are pleased to welcome Greg McLean to the LGS Board. Greg has spent 40 years representing working Australians and we look forward to drawing on his extensive experience so we can continue the strong growth of our super fund and the retirement savings of our members."

At LGS, Mclean will serve on the governance, remuneration and nomination committee, member services committee, and risk committee.
