Local Government Super (LGS) has announced the appointment of Katherine O'Regan as the first female chair of the $10 billion, effective 1 July 2017.

She has also previously served as deputy mayor for Woollahra Municipal Council; an adviser and chief of staff to Australian Federal and State Government Ministers, and as an executive in numerous Australian top-50 listed corporations including: Macquarie Bank, National Australia Bank and MLC.

She succeeds Craig Peate, who steps down following the conclusion of his two-year term. Peate will remain on the board as deputy chair.

Commenting on O'Regan's appointment at LGS, acting CEO, Donna Heffernan, said: "This appointment is great news for LGS on two fronts. Not only will our members continue to benefit from Katherine's wealth of local government and financial services knowledge and experience, but we are also delighted to announce our first female chair."

"This landmark appointment reinforces LGS's commitment to diversity and female representation in leadership roles, including on boards".
